Portugal is situated in the Western part of Europe. Some of its wine regions, such as the Douro, are the oldest in the world originated in Roman times AC. Its climate ranges from Mediterranean / Continental in regions such as Douro and Alentejo in the Atlantic regions such as Ribatejo. With the rapid evolution of production techniques more and more Portuguese wines are situated in the higher levels having nothing to fear from comparison with their counterparts and Spanish neighbors, French or Italian.
